This section provides an explanation of the consultation and engagement activity around bioprospecting. We are currently up to Phase 2b in the consultation process.

Phase 1: Engagement on discussion document

Phase 2a: Biodiscovery Working Groups

Phase 2b: Biodiscovery Taumata

The Biodiscovery Taumata brings together members with expertise across the spectrum of activity covered by the scope of biodiscovery policy (such as biological research, resource management, community interests and human rights, business and the commercialisation of technology and more).

Phase 3: Structured Consultation on Policy Options

Phase 3 will involve engagement with various interest groups on possible policy options.
