Changes in Energy Use
New Zealand 1990-2011
The Changes in Energy Use report provides annual trend data and analysis of the drivers of energy use. Economy-wide sector specific data are reported on a calendar year basis and categorised into three groups; business, residential, and transport.
A technique referred to as the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index is used to factorise the total energy consumption into various ‘effects’ which drive the use of energy. This allows for the analysis of energy efficiency, which is one of the four priorities of the New Zealand Energy Strategy 2011-2021.
