Implementing the Electricity Market Review recommendations
The 2009 Ministerial Review of Electricity Market Performance proposed 29 measures to improve the performance of the electricity market, its institutions and its governance.
Most of these decisions are covered by the Electricity Industry Act 2010 and are being implemented as part of the Electricity Authority’s annual work programme.
The Electricity Authority was set up on 1 November 2010 to promote competition, reliable supply and efficient operation of the electricity market for the long-term benefit of consumers. The Authority is an independent Crown entity under the Crown Entities Act.
