The Ministry of Economic Development monitors several agencies involved in financial issues in New Zealand, on behalf of the Minister of Commerce.
Financial Markets Authority
Established on 1 May 2011, the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) is the new consolidated market conduct regulator for New Zealand's financial markets.
External Reporting Board
The External Reporting Board (XRB) is an independent Crown entity responsible for the development and issuing of accounting and auditing and assurances standards in New Zealand.
Commission for Financial Literacy
The Ministry of Economic Development has policy responsibility for fostering financial literacy in New Zealand and monitors the Commission for Financial Literacy and Retirement Income on behalf of the Minister of Commerce.
