Deputy Secretary, Competition, Trade and Investment

I joined the Ministry of Economic Development in 2005 as Director, Legal, in the Organisational Development and Support branch. I was appointed Deputy Secretary of Organisational Development and Support in October 2009, and Deputy Secretary of Competition Trade and Investment in September 2011.

I have experience in both the public and private sectors, where I’ve held legal roles as a manager, solicitor and litigator.

Before joining the Ministry I spent three years as Deputy Chief Legal Advisor and Manager Litigation with the Ministry of Social Development. Prior to that I was Senior Counsel at the Commerce Commission.

I have also worked in private practice and as a Crown Prosecutor.

I have an LLB (Hons) from the University of Otago and have been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor.
