Commercial Solutions branch

I’m Greg Patchell, Deputy Secretary of the Commercial Solutions branch at the Ministry of Economic Development.

Our branch manages government procurement and the Ministry’s information technology services. The branch also assists other areas of the Ministry in negotiating and settling commercial transactions, for example, broadband.

Government Procurement Solutions

We are responsible for government procurement policy and practice.

• We co-ordinate whole-of-government procurement and administer the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS).
• We lead the Government Procurement Reform Programme, which aims to improve value for money, capability, capacity, business participation, and governance, oversight and accountability.
• We provide guides and tools for government agencies to improve their procurement capability.

We are responsible for providing technology leadership across the Ministry.  We maintain and improve the capability, quality and delivery of the Ministry’s information technology systems.
