Copyright, patents and trade marks

How to I protect my rights in relation to copyright, patents and trade marks?

The Intellectual Property Office (IPONZ) has user-friendly information about protecting:

  • Inventions (patents).
  • Brands, identity, logos (trademarks).
  • Original works (copyright – includes literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works).
  • A design that is applied to an article ('registered design').
  • Plant varieties (plant variety rights).
